A thernal pad is attached to the RTL8812BU IC to conduct heat into the USB connector.

For linux kernel version > 4.14 jeremyb31's driver will not work so far,
but with the changes from y0urself/rtl8822bu you will be fine!
For linux kernel version > 4.15 (init_timer deprecation) check.

This made my usb-ac53 show up in network(Kubuntu 20.10), but remember to go to network setting and change it to wpa2. It will keep falling to connect to router, which support wpa3. The adapter itself on the other hand is not wpa3 supported.
