Template:R from CamelCase

This page is a redirect:
|
- Template Redirect category shell may be used to add one or more rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation page below.
When used by itself:
- From a camel case title: This is a redirect from a camel case page name. In the initial versions of TechInfoDepot, all links had to be "CamelCase", i.e., words that used medial capitals; they are "two-humped" like a Bactrian camel. These are kept as redirects to maintain edit history and to avoid breaking links that may have been made externally.
This template should not be substituted nor used to tag soft redirects. |
Purpose
This template is a more specific choice to , and it is used for redirects from "CamelCase" to more conventional spelling. In the initial versions of TechInfoDepot, all links had to be CamelCase. When that changed, these redirects were left behind and are a historic part of this encyclopedia.
Usage
Use this rcat template in any namespace.
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects with old history and, when the redirect is in the main-article namespace (mainspace), Category:Unprintworthy redirects is also populated by default. At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of TechInfoDepot encyclopedia articles. Mainspace redirects from old CamelCase titles are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
- Add this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT (target page name) R from CamelCase
- and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:
#REDIRECT (target page name) R from CamelCase R unprintworthy
- Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT (target page name) R from CamelCase
- This is in accord with instructions found at TechInfoDepot:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat on any redirect from a CamelCase title. An example is AtlasShruggedAtlas Shrugged. These redirects are kept to maintain edit history and to avoid breaking links that have been made to the redirect, both internally and from external websites. See WP:LINKROT.
