How do I make NEW tabs to open as the last tab?

Go to about:config in Firefox's address bar and click the warning to proceed. Search for browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent and set to false by double clicking it.

How to open bookmarks in a new tab (rather than existing window)

1. Bring up Firefox's Advanced settings/config page by typing the following into your url bar: about:config

2. Search 'bookmarks' (or 'browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs' if you only want the exact preference name)

3. Locate 'browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs' and double click it to change the value from false to true.

Open address bar in a new tab?

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste intab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.urlbar.openintab preference to switch the value from false to true

In case you're curious about some of the others:

browser.search.openintab is for the classic short search bar (optional since Firefox 57)

browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs is for bookmarks you open from the menu, toolbar, or sidebar

For the search bar on the Navigation toolbar you can set this pref to true on the about:config page.

browser.search.openintab

Whether addresses and search results typed into the address bar should be opened in new tabs by default.

How to Prevent Firefox from Exiting When You Close the Last Tab

  1. Open Firefox and type “about:config” in the address bar.
  2. Press Enter to access Firefox’s advanced settings.
  3. Click on the “I accept the risk” button to proceed.
  4. In the search bar, type “browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab” and press Enter.
  5. Double-click on the “browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab” option to change the value from “true” to “false.”
