Overview

This dongle is intended (and sold for) use with Sony's Blu-ray Disc players and TVs.

"8WUSND06S2A1G" is silkscreened on the board in the FCC photos. This would seem to indicate Alpha Networks manufacture..

The device has the regdomain of 0x6a (World roaming) in the EEPROM.

An off-brand clone of this device may have been sold as the UWA-BR100.

Notes

This adapter uses AR7010+AR9280 (and presumably also the UB94 reference design for that chipset), which is found on a few other devices. It is, however, not likely that any alternative adapters will be usable with Sony products.

.. and, while this dongle is noted as being incompatible with non-Sony products within the FCC docs, it should work fine in..

  • most versions of Windows, when using AR7010 / some AR9271 drivers (see those used by the WN821N v3, WN822N v2, etc)
  • any recent release of the Linux kernel, when using the ath9k_htc driver
