Overview
This tag is designed to be used with Ekahau's Wi-Fi RTLS (real-time location system). Per the datasheet, features include...
- naturally, real-time location reporting to their controller server (ERC) and privileged users (via Ekahau Vision or something else [via XML API])
- OLED text display for text messaging
- audio buzzers and two LEDs for alerts
- a duress / panic switch (pull out the unit's top hook, shown used with a lanyard)
- a motion detector for an auto man down alert
Per the FCC docs..
- "Ekahau T401BD", "rev 4.3", "(C) Roving Networks" is silkscreened on the screen side of the board.
- Per the block diagram, the device is using a G2 Microsystems G2C547 b/g WiFi SoC and a Renesas R5F21258 (R5F21258SNFP) - R8C/Tiny series CPU core - MCU
- Per Renesas's datasheet, the R5F21258SNFP has 64 KB Program ROM, 1 KB x 2 Data flash, and 3 KB RAM.
Additional specifications, per Ekahau's datasheet, follow...
- Battery: 600mAh Li-Poly battery, rated for 300 cycles w/ > 70% of initial capacity, 2 hr charge time
- The badges use a high-energy, rechargable battery that works for weeks (depending on location update interval) without recharging). The battery can be charged using individual desk chargers or a rack charger which can charge up to 10 tags at a time.
- Tx Putput Power: +12dBm
- Recieve Sensitivity: -93dBm @ 1Mbps (?? PER / BER)
- Typical Operating Range
- Open space: 330ft / 100m @ 11Mbps, 500ft / 150m @ 2Mbps
- Closed office: 140ft / 40m @ 11Mbps, 200ft / 60m @ 2Mbps
- Weight: 46 g / 1.7 oz
- Dimensions: 60 mm x 90 mm x 8.5 mm
The 00:18:8E OUI is per the FCC EUT's label. It may not be representative of in-use devices.
