Overview
The Linksys BEVFP41 is a virtual private network router with 4 local-area ethernet ports and 1 wide-area ethernet port. The encryption of the virtual private network uses the cryptographically broken DES or triple-DES ciphers and Internet Key Exchange (IKE). IPSec is provided by a coprocessor from the company Hi/fn.
Because the DES cipher is broken this device has no value as a VPN end-point (it is a liability as part of a VPN) and is only useful as an unencrypted ethernet router.
